# Staking

Hera is a governance token. It does not have an inflationary or deflationary structure. Therefore, it does not offer very high APY rates. However, it constitutes the community's decision mechanism on the protocol.

By taking part in the community stake pools, it not only gets the right to vote on the suggestions to be made, but also gets token returns with variable rates.
